FDM 3D PRINT
FDM 3D PRINTING - FEW WORDS
- 3D PRINTING
- FDM/FFF METHOD
WHAT IS FDM 3D PRINTING ?
Fused deposition modeling, is one of the most popular currently incremental methods. All thanks to constantly decreasing prices of devices, machines and materials, but also the faster development of this technology in comparison to the others. This is due to the fact that the ratio of the price of the element to the price of the device is the most favorable despite the "layers" visible on this technology. It is a technology that allows you to make working prototypes, low-series products at a favorable price, in addition, using FDM technology we can freely adjust the filling of the model (i.e. 3D printout can be empty inside), which significantly reduces its weight. Of course, changes in the filling of the model affect its final strength. 3D prints made in FDM technology are used for both purely prototype elements and industrial applications, which proves the versatility of this method.
APPLICATION OF THE FDM METHOD:
- fully functional prototypes and entire component assemblies;
- spare parts;
- motorization - prototypes;
- architectural visualizations;
- electronics housings;
- toys - prototypes;
- machine industry, household appliances;
- medicine - bone models for surgery planning, personalized bone prostheses, dental prosthetics.
MATERIALS USED IN THE FDM METHOD:
- ABS, PLA, PETG, PA6, TPU / FLEX and many other polymer compositions
- The final treatment varies depending on the material used;
- In everyday use, even for hobbyists or small businesses, ABS and PLA are most often used as the cheapest material and additionally not causing major problems during printing
- Possibility of printing one element and several elements at the same time
- Price of devices
- Print price
- Easy device repair
- Low price of printing material (filament)
- Large workspace for a small price
- Highly visible layers, seam and printhead transitions
- Material strength relatively inferior to the SLS method
- Quality (obtaining very good quality is associated with the printing time, which is not commensurate with the obtained effect)
- Possibility of using 3D finishing (bath in acetone vapors, modeling putty etc. etc.)
